Dear family and friends,

In the previous newsletter we mentioned about the rental building for church functionality. After cleaning and decoration, some ministries already started at the church weekly such as Taiwanese, Mandarin, Vietnamese fellowships, tutorial class for needy students, and youth and children’s activities. These ministries are young in many ways. Our hope is that they will be developed stronger to serve future needs of the church.

Despite heavy religious practices of ancestor worship and a multitude of spirits in Yuan-chang Township, people have slowly been aware of the church, ministries, and activities inside and outside the church. To our surprise, they have had a positive impression about our Christian works’ existence. Even though many still admit it feels strange to step inside the church.

New converts face a pull from their religious background such as burning incense, paper money, and observing often and regular religious and superstitious traditions. They feel obligated to continue what they have been passed down. Moreover, they are vulnerable to ridicule from relatives and friends for being God’s followers. While they face discouragement of different forms, please pray for them to be comforted and strengthened by God’s power.
